Liquids and Gels Prohibited in Carry-On Baggage

Given im flying on wednesday i wanted to find out what the dealio is on the matter of much hype in the news here, mainly so i dont get screwed by it...
Department of Homeland Security press release:
"No liquids or gels of any kind will be permitted in carry on baggage. such items must be in checked baggage. This includes all beverages, shampoo, sun tan lotion, creams, tooth paste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency."

FUCKEN AMERICANS...this is so inconvenient!!
