Queenstown, Milford and Dunedin....

soo since july...
i am STILL living at Deco....the backpacker....thats right, you might think im crazy but it is just too much fun here to go elsewhere....it is addicting to come home to 40 people every night...there is a good group of people mostly from the uk that have been here for the whole time so we all know each other pretty well by now...think university hostel but in one room....yup carnage......people are slowly leaving now though so the numbers are starting to dwindle some ....
the snow is still good...though not a touch on mammoth....ski resorts here just dont have the organisation and money and whatever it is to make them really good.....but thats not to say its not still worth it...you just hafta work harder...ie hike a lot more and get up close and personal with the rocks....
took a trip to Milford Sound for the day...about a three and half hour drive in...stopping for photo opportunities etc along the way...waterfalls, friendly kea and stunning views.....
took the boat cruise around the sound which is pretty breathtaking....saw some locals in the form of some seals and generally was in awe of well all of it really....well worth the trip but possibly should have spent the night as it was a fairly big day....
also have had shitty driver back into the back of my car!...well pissed off but what can you do..
been mad sick with the second round of queenstown-super flu....this strain has been brewing all season so is a ripper....love tourist town sickness it always a kicker...
also took a trip down to dunedin for the weekend...got into town just in time to miss the last chocolate factory tour for the day and miss out on the speights brewery tour as it was full!...good luck soo far....cruised around the university campus,...bizarre feeling to be back in that environment, cant say i miss it...managed to get in touch with a friend from school (thanks dad!) and pulled up a couch in his flat for the night...had a good time out at a birthday party for his south american friend......cruised out the Otago peninsula for lunch and walked up Baldwin Street, the worlds steepest street, before making our way back home.....now its a spot of skiing tomorrow before back to work on tuesday....
